Structure of the YWCA of Bangalore City
Driven by commitment and volunteerism, the YWCA of Bangalore City is built on a strong foundation of women leaders who bring with them-a deep understanding and knowledge, experience and expertise. The YWCA of Bangalore City elects its leaders to serve on the policy making board for a specific term, whose primary responsibility is to determine the policy, constitution, strategic directions and budgets of the Association. Keeping with the spirit and ideals of the organization, the professional staff who are appointed, work in partnership with the volunteer leaders, to realize the vision and goals of the organization.
YWCA of India
Headquartered in New Delhi and affiliated to the World YWCA, was founded in 1874 and today has more than 65 local YWCAs spread all over the country.
These local YWCAs work towards empowering women and girls from all backgrounds
Women in the local YWCAs have a platform to address all issues that affect them.
Majority of the local YWCAs also provide residences for working women and students
This organization is well known for networking with other interest groups through campaigns and lobbying for policy change.
YWCA of Bangalore City is part of the largest international ecumenical women's movement in the world. There is a YWCA present in over 125 countires around the world. World YWCA is a global movement which was founded in 1855, and works for Peace, Justice, Human Rights and Environment and truly supports leadership by women.
The World YWCA, headquartered in Geneva unites more than 120 affiliated, autonomous national YWCAs and has a membership of over 25 million women.
The organization promotes leadership development of women and girls as an effective strategy for impacting social, economic and cultural change.
It mobilizes women's collective power for action on important issues such as, women's rights, rights of the child, human rights, health and environment.
The movement was founded on Christian principles and welcomes women of all faiths.
